A lifelong Warrington resident, Hans Mundry is one of the borough’s longest-serving councillors, first elected in 1995. He represented Westy before the ward was restructured into Latchford East.

Hans served as Mayor of Warrington in 2005/06, focusing his tenure on “caring for families.” With a background as a Youth Worker for Lancashire County Council, he has remained dedicated to community well-being throughout his career.

In 2015, he joined the Cabinet (formerly the Executive Board) as portfolio holder for transport, highways, and public realm. His tenure saw the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects, including Centre Park Link, Warrington West train station, and the borough’s transition to an all-electric bus fleet.

Since becoming council leader in 2023, Hans has focused on delivering a balanced budget, protecting essential services, and maximizing the opportunities presented by devolution. He also serves on the Liverpool-Manchester Northern Powerhouse Railway Board, advocating for a new hub station at Warrington Bank Quay.
